Hi CorkSuckers!!!!

You know how sometimes life gets in the way of performing other duties, like getting out the Merlot results from Sherry’s event!  Well, that’s what happened…too much life happening! All good though.

I hope that some of you are planning to do the harvesting at Paul’s vineyard on either (or both) 10/15 & 10/22. It’ll be a nice change of pace for us and a great help to Paul.

November CorkSuckers will be a small group, probably at my place, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 11/26.  Not sure about the wine yet!

April 2011

Thank you all for celebrating the Marin/Sonoma CorkSuckers 8 year anniversary! Wow, 8 years of sharing wine, food and wonderful people… Thank you, thank you!!! And a huge thanks for Sherry for letting us use her clubhouse. And a special thanks to all of you CorkSuckers who stayed to help us clean up!!

March 2011

Thank you all for bringing your favorite, no matter how expensive. The night was so much fun, so different from our usual evening. A special thanks to Bob for taking such good care of us, serving us the wine so we didn’t need to hover!!!

February 2011

OMG, what a beautiful day it is today. Sunny, but cold, but sunny!!! I hope you’re out doing something fun. Thank you to Becca for opening her house to our group, and thank you all for braving the inclement weather to join us. The food was awesome, you guys rock. I hope you found a red Rhone to your liking.

Hello, hello my friends,

Thank you all so much for coming out to our first CorkSuckers of 2011. Can you believe how fast 2010 went by? Geez! Thanks to Mark and Mike for hosting at their very comfortable clubhouse. I hope you got to see the beautiful moon off the back deck. Makes you glad to live in Marin!

Thanks to those who donated money. It’s very rare that I ask for money and feel very uncomfortable doing it. I buy all of the supplies for CorkSuckers out of my pocket and every now and again I ask you all to contribute to keep the supplies up. I appreciate your generosity.

December

Wow, what a great night! Thank you all so much for coming and being patient through our very busy evening. Thank you to everyone who participated in the white elephant gift exchange…I hope you got something useful.

Thank you to Cobb for sharing his beautiful home on the keys. Maybe we can convince Cobb to have a CorkSuckers during the summer to take advantage of the great weather and his deck!!! And, thank you to Mark for his great gift. The whip is now in my CorkSuckers box and I’ll bring it to all future events!!!

November
Good after the November CorkSuckers morning to you all!!!!

Thank you Terry, for allowing us into your home! AND for cooking us a fantastic turkey! Thank you everyone for coming and bringing such good food…and great smiles!!!! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and found a CA Merlot that you liked.

October
Here we are at the end of October already! I swear the older I get the faster time goes by. It’s scary! Fits for this time of year!

Thank you to Liz and Gerard for inviting us to share Pinot Noir in their beautiful home. Thank you to the Marin folks who drove out to Hercules…you guys are die-hard CorkSuckers!!!! Liz and Gerard, thanks also for allowing us to watch the Giants game…and what a game….Go Giants!!!

So, we tasted Pinot Noir. Hopefully you found something you liked and took note of the number. I hope some you Hercules folks will take the trek to Marin and join us in future months! Thanks for coming, I hope you enjoyed the event.

August 2010
Hey there fellow CorkSuckers,

Thank you all so much for coming on Saturday. I hope you all enjoyed the champagne and food as much as I did. Wow, what a spread!!! Thank you for going the extra mile to prepare something scrumptious for everyone to share.

And thank you of course to Bob for sharing his house with us! I hope we didn’t leave you with too much of a mess Bob!!

We do need a host for the October CorkSuckers, so if you’re interested, please let me know. Next month is at Sherry’s club house…theme wine still to be decided.

July 2010
Hello, hello my patient CorkSuckers!

It’s been such a hectic time since our last CorkSuckers. Work, fun, work, fun, sleep now and again!!! Thank you thank you to Itzik for inviting us to his beautiful home. For those of us who came to his house early, a nice dip in the pool was just the ticket to bring down the temp from the San Anselmo fair! And thank you to JoAnn, you are the epitome if hostessing!!!

June 2010
Ah my fellow CorkSuckers…how good it was to see you at Johnnie Jean’s on 6/19, and thank you again to Johnnie Jean for inviting us into her beautiful home and spacious back yard.  I hope you found a Zin to your liking!  There were plenty to choose from!!!

Speaking of which, here are the results:

Hopefully we’ll get some warmer weather for our July CorkSuckers at Itzik’s house in Fairfax.  He has a pool and I’m pretty sure he’s hoping people will go for a swim.  I’ll confirm that and let you know in the invitation.  I do know it will be on July 17, so set that date aside!  Hope you all have a great month, and 7/17 will be here before you know it!!

Ciao

May 2010
Oh my friends. Thank you all for coming to my home and giving me such a gift!  Your wonderful company, sharing your great food, and of course your opinion on Pinot Noir.  My apologies for taking so long in getting you the results.  It’s been a busy, busy week!!!

Don’t forget Johnnie Jean is having CorkSuckers at her place in Terra Linda on Saturday, June 19, 6:30pm.  Theme wine is Zinfandel!!!!  If we have another large group, we may decide to split the wine into groups again.  We’ll see.  Look for the invitation soon.

April

Hello, hello my CorkSucker friends!!!

So happy you all made it to Sherry’s on Saturday. What a great venue for our CorkSucker events. Thank you Sherry for your hospitality and for allowing us to invade your clubhouse!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone. You are what makes CorkSuckers great!!! Your great attitudes, your love of wine, your friendliness and willingness to help. I hope you find CorkSuckers fun, and informative. I know I depend on you all to make it work!

As you all know, we did things a little differently this time, breaking the group up into 3 tables and 3 sets of wine groups. That way instead of being responsible for tasting 35 or so wines, you were only responsible for a very doable 11 or 12 bottles.

March

Hello fellow CorkSuckers!!!!

How great it was to share time with you last weekend, drinking an expensive (by CorkSucker standards!!) Brunello. Having such an
expensive wine trimmed down on the number of CorkSuckers willing to participate. But we had a great time and lots of delicious food.

For those who missed the event, Jeff and Bobbie have a beautiful home, and I thank them for sharing it with us, and for being my friend!

Take care my friends…until next month.

January

A big thank you to D’Ann for hosting our first CorkSuckers of 2010!!! Thank you all for coming and making the evening a great time! By the end of the night I realized that I don’t care for Sangiovese very much!!! That’s the great thing about CorkSuckers, for the price of 1 bottle of wine, and an appetizer, you can try many bottles and find something you like, or like me, come to the realization that you don’t really like the varietal.

Looks like you all enjoyed D’s wii after the event!!! Some of you are damn good bowlers!!! Looks like February may be at my house unless someone else steps up. More to come on that.

Have a great month!!

December

Well my friends, another December CorkSuckers under our belts!! And our belts are now out another notch or two!!!!! No matter, we’ll hike when it starts to get warmer…

Thanks to Joy for their hospitality, and that delicious turkey Dennis BBQ!! It was a wonderful evening, made so much better by all of you being there. Thank you for coming to CorkSuckers and coming back throughout the year. You are truly special people that I love spending time with.

November

Thanks again to Kim and Steve for opening their beautiful house to us last Saturday night, and thank you all for coming.  It was a pleasure to meet the new folks and see the "old timers" again!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful time.  The food, holy moly, so good.  I hope you found a Syrah to your liking.

October

Well, what a wonderful night…full of good wine, great food and fabulous people. Everyone behaved! Too bad!!!

I wanted to let everyone know that the CorkSuckers website, www.corksuckers.info is in the works and there is already some information located there. Please tell friends to check us out. The results for this month, going forward will be included. I’m also going to go back and post the winners for the last few years. How exciting!!! We’ll pick a few pictures to post, but I’m going to send most pictures through snapfish or some other program.

So thank you everyone for coming and sharing my love for wine, good food, and great friends. I loved seeing all of you and sharing my small space with you!!! So now to the results for our Petite Sirah event:

September

We had a lot of wine to go through last night and I want to thank you for sticking to it.  When we have that many bottles it can be very difficult to get through them...thanks to you all.  Also, the food was awesome...thanks to those of you who took a little extra time and made something homemade!!!  Yum...
